I have always been in love with telling a story. From the time that I was very little, I was completely enthralled with movies and books. As I grew up, I noticed how a simple, short commercial could communicate a story so strongly and so quickly as to make my mom cry, and my love of storytelling and advertising was born.
In my internships, I had the wonderful opportunity to create storyboards for short commercials, webisodes, and other short videos. There was a time in my life where I wanted to work in film, so this was a wonderful way to briefly live out that dream. While most of this work is still under NDA, I am able to provide a few examples from particularly fun storyboarding projects.
Focusing on 60 second spots, I created a series of short video commercials for Kid Rock and his American lager, Badass. For this work, I was given one line of direction for the commercial and full liberty to create the story from there. Heavily relying on Adobe Photoshop, I would create my scenes using found images from the internet (like in the example below) or staging my own photography at times. While I cannot show more than just this one page, it was wonderfully fun and exciting to be able to work on the five Badass projects that came through during my internship.
During this time, I was also to work on Chrysler webisodes to help users learn how to use their UConnect systems, which are the internal navigation and interface of Chrysler vehicles. Similar to above, these storyboards are still under NDA, so I can only provide a few examples from the various webisodes.
